Welcome Wha
Please read on to find out about expectations in Year 6 and how you can support your child to be ready for the day or week!
Home Reading
Reading at home is still extremely important. Reading diaries will be checked on a weekly basis by either myself or Ms Meredith, please update them with any reading activities you have done with your child at home. Your child should have 2 books – a reader from the class shelf and a library book. It is expected that these come with your child to and from school every day.
Spellings
Spellings will be given out at the beginning of the week and tested on a Friday. It is important that they practice each day, as these words will form part of the SATs at the end of the year. The spellings will be presented in the form of a list, with space for your child to copy down their attempts in ‘Look, Cover, Say, Write, Check’ format.
Homework
Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in on Friday of the following week, along with the spelling sheets above. The topic of the homework will vary each week but should be completed in their pink homework book, unless otherwise specified. The amount and demand of homework will increase after the Christmas break, in the build up to the SATs.
PE
PE is on a Monday and Wednesday. It is recommended that your child brings their kit in at the start of the week, and takes it home to be washed over the weekend ready for the following Monday.
